Hopeful Hop

Freddy wasn’t sure which way to go.
He was very hungry but the ponds were closed.
He sat thinking of something to try.
There was nothing to eat, not even a fly.
He grabbed his flashlight and hopped off the log.
You see, little Freddy is really a frog.

He tried a few ponds, some rivers and lakes.
Everything was closed, it was just too late.
His stomach was growling, he was getting sad.
Slowly he smiled at the idea he had.
He pulled up his pants, hopped as fast as he could.
There was a huge garden just outside the woods.

He set down his light so he wouldn’t drop it.
Grabbing all the lettuce, he filled up his pockets.
He pulled out his cellphone, called his friend.
Tom the Turtle said, “Come on over! Come right in!”
With his light shining on the path
He forgot to “ribbit” he was hopping so fast!

Tom was happy to make the trade.
He has flies left over from the lunch he made.
The garden is too far for turtles to go.
It takes too long because turtles are slow.
But Tom got his lettuce and Freddy got his flies.
When we work together we can all reach the prize!
